Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth

In 2010, the Universal Declaration of Rights of Mother Earth was presented at the First Peoples Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The document states that “Mother Earth and all beings of which she is composed” have inherent rights and that “every human being is responsible for respecting and living in harmony with Mother Earth. It was presented in the UN Dialogues on Harmony with Nature the following year.
